Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Paul Nave, of 412 Carter Boulevard, Elizabethton, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on Friday, April 6, 2012.
They were married April 6, 1963, at Erwin Presbyterian Church by Minister Robert E. Kibbs.
Mrs. Nave, the former Shirley Williams, is the daughter of the late Gertrude and J.C. Bradley Jr. She is employed as Advertising Manager at the Elizabethton STAR.
Mr. Nave, the son of Ada Proffitt Nave, of Elizabethton, and the late William Luther Nave, is a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served aboard the USS Independence where he held the rank of Quartermaster Second Class (E-5). He was formerly employed with American Air Filter in Elizabethton, Snap-On Tools in Johnson City, and retired from Alemite in Johnson City.
The couple are the parents of a son, the late Lee Nave, and a daughter, the late Chrissy Nave Hartman.
They have one granddaughter, Brittany Marie Hartman, of Elizabethton, and one grandson, the late Matthew Lee Hartman. They also have one great-granddaughter, Ashton Danielle.
Melvin and Shirley are members of Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
