Appalachian State student’s death ruled accidental drowningwww.
9:11 am | October 2, 2012BOONE, N.C. (AP) – Investigators think an Appalachian State University student slipped at the edge of a creek, hit his head on rocks and fell into the water and drowned.
An autopsy on the death of 19-year-old Tyler Blalock of Charlotte, N.C., classifies the death as an accidental drowning.
School officials said the autopsy results are consistent with a campus police investigation.
Blalock’s body was found in a creek that flows through a park in Boone on Saturday morning. The park is across from the university’s Holmes Convocation Center, which accommodates conventions, trade shows, concerts and athletic events.
Blalock was a sophomore studying sustainable development.
