The 1st Judicial District Public Defender’s Office filed motions Wednesday to restrict public statements and to dismiss charges against 27-year-old Tiffani Holston.

The Carter County grand jury handed down indictments against Holston on Tuesday, charging her with first-degree murder and aggravated child neglect. The grand jury indictments were filed after an investigation into the death of 4-year-old Joshua Holston, who was struck and killed by a dump truck at the corner of Broad Street and Lynn Avenue last month.

Signed by Assistant Public Defender Melanie Sellers, one motion seeks that during the course of court proceedings no member of the District Attorney’s staff, the Public Defender’s office, attorney or law enforcement official be allowed to make any public statements to the media regarding the case or related cases.
