Betsy Band to attend October competitions8:47 am | October 1, 2012
The Elizabethton Betsy Band Boosters will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the band room at EHS. Members of the executive board will meet at 6:45 p.m. The boosters meeting will commence at 7:30 p.m. The original meeting date of Oct. 2 has been changed since the TAD band students will be performing at a football game.
Volunteers are still being sought for the 2012 season. Individuals, who would like to work concessions, help ice drinks, make donuts, help in fundraising, or a number of other opportunities, may call Boosters President Tim Smith at 512-2980 or email him at email@example.com.
Upcoming events for Betsy’s high school fall marching competitions include the first contest of the season at Tennessee High Saturday, Oct. 6; Heritage High School in Maryville Saturday, Oct. 13; Farragut High in Knoxville Saturday, Oct. 27; and the state championship event Nov. 3 near Nashville. The title of this season’s performance is “Wright to the Moon.” The show will focus on the nation’s history in aviation and the inspiration of the Wright brothers.
Betsy’s gift wrap fundraiser will conclude Monday, Oct. 8. Band members will begin to take orders for the Florida Indian River Groves fruit sale the first week in October. The fruit will be delivered in early December. Students have to collect payment when orders for the fruit are placed.
Donations of Coca-Cola product drinks are being sought for extra band rehearsals, home and away football game performances. If you would like to donate, call Kim Pless at 342-8101.
Payments from EHS students are being collected for the annual trip to the Tennessee State Division II State Marching Band Championship in November. The second installment payment is due Oct. 24. Total cost of the trip is $150 per student. Monies will pay for the buses, rooms and three fast-food type meals for each band member.
The band room may be reached at 547-8015. Citizens interested in receiving emails from the Betsy Boosters may email Elizabethtonbanduniforms@gmail.com to be placed on the mailing list. The band’s website is betsyband.org.
