VF House of Prayer

Homecoming will be celebrated at Valley Forge House of Prayer on Sunday, Aug. 12.

Steve Waycaster will preach the morning service at 10 a.m.

Special singing will be offered.

Dinner will be served after the service.

Pastor Darryl Bailey invites everyone to attend.

There will be on Sunday evening services.

 

God’s House Full Gospel Church

A gospel singing will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. at God’s House Full Gospel Church, located at 1206 Old Stateline Road.

Featured singers will include the Cox Family and Rebecca Holt.

First Presbyterian

Sunday School with Bobby Connelly will be held at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at First Presbyterian Church. The Adult Forum will be held at the same time during which the group will explore the words of Jesus and what He taught about social and economic justice, using as a backdrop two recent discussions about income equality and the value sets of those who self-identify as “liberals” and “conservatives.”

Morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. with the theme “It’s All God.”

Rev. John Shuck is pastor of the church, which is located at 119 West F St., Elizabethton.

 

First Christian

Brent Nidiffer, Minister of First Christian Church, will continue the series USEFUL: From Useless to Useful at the Sunday morning worship service. The sermon from Philemon will be titled “Useful Influence.”

The worship service will begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday will also be Promotion Day for the children. Certificates will be presented following the morning worship service to those moving from one department to the next.

Sunday School for all ages will be held at 11:15 a.m.

At 6 p.m. Cara Estep will present a report about her mission trip to the Ukraine. Following the mission report, the church board will meet in the Men’s Classroom.

On Monday at 10 a.m., the Ladies Bible Study class will meet in the Fidelis Classroom.

Morning Prayer will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary.

Bible classes will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The adult choir will resume practice at 8 p.m. for the fall session.

Thursday at 6:30 p.m. the Women’s Fellowship will host their quarterly meeting in the Fellowship Hall. Tim and Spencer Turner (father and son), missionaries to Japan, will speak. All women are encouraged to attend and bring their favorite salad to share at the Salad Picnic Supper.

The Carter County Christian Women’s Retreat will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Appalachian Christian Camp from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring a salad to share for lunch.

Unaka Baptist

The regularly scheduled Brotherhood Breakfast at Unaka Baptist Church will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, from 7 to 10 a.m. A $6 donation is appreciated.

Bethlehem Lutheran

“Isolated But Never Alone” will be the theme of the sermon Sunday at morning worship at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City. The sermon text is I Kings 19:1-8.

Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with holy communion served at both services.

Sunday School and Bible Study will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Hunter Memorial Baptist

Homecoming will be celebrated at Hunter Memorial Baptist on Sunday, Aug. 12.

Evangelist Phil Glisson from Memphis will bring the message on Sunday morning.

The church will also hold revival services from Sunday, Aug. 12, through Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. each day.

Glisson’s wife will also hold a revival for kids.

First United Methodist

The sermon “Imitators of Christ” will be the title of the sermon for Sunday morning worship Aug. 12 at First United Methodist Church. The scripture text will be Ephesians 4:25-5:2. Morning worship will begin at 10 a.m.

A brief fellowship time will immediately follow the worship service.

Sunday School for all ages will begin at 11:20 a.m. The Men’s Prayer Group will meet on Sunday at 9 a.m. in Room 108. The Sunday evening Bible Study will meet at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Abiding Love Bible Study group will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

True Gospel Baptist

True Gospel Baptist Church, 1028 Gap Creek Road, will observe homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 12, with services beginning at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Doug Bare. Special singing will also be provided.

The Crystal River Boys will be singing Sunday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Watauga First Baptist Church.

East Fairview 

Revival will begin Sunday, Aug. 12, at the East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, 131 Old Charity Hill Road.

Services will be held nightly at 7 o’clock.

Valley Forge Christian
