East Side Baptist
Fun and food will be available on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. as East Side Baptist Church, 1509 Siam Road, Elizabethton, hosts its Family Fun Day.
The event will offer picnic-style food, fellowship, inflatables and games for the children. Water games will be provided and children attending are asked to bring a towel.
On Sunday, Bible study will begin at 9:45 a.m. The sermon series from the Book of Ruth will continue during the 11 a.m. worship service.

Christian Men’s Fellowship
“The Carter County Christian Men’s Fellowship will meet Tuesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at West Side Christian Church in Elizabethton. David Slayton will be the guest speaker. After the worship and preaching service, there will be a time of fellowship.

Elk Park Christian
Barbara Lowman will be presented in concert at the Elk Park Christian Church on Sunday, July 15, at 5 p.m.
Lowman is a new musical artist from Morganton, N.C., who has recorded a new single, “Child of God.”
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Lowman is a member of the Country Gospel Music Association.

“Into Exile” will be the theme for morning worship Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is Amos 7: 7-15. Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10.45 a.m. Holy Communion will be served at both services.
Sunday School and Bible Study will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Simerly Creek Believer’s Fellowship
Revival will be held July 22-26 at the Simerly Creek Believer’s Fellowship Church. Services will be held nightly at 7 o’clock.
Featured will be singing and preaching. Speakers will be: Rev. Greg Whitehead on Sunday; Rev. Brandon Young on Monday; Rev. Terry Jones on Tuesday; Rev. Barry Shepherd in Wednesday; and Rev. Carl Grindstaff on Thursday.

The Baptist Men of Unaka Baptist Church will have their monthly breakfast Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. A $6 donation is appreciated.
In addition, the WMU will have a bake sale and yard sale to raise funds to help with medical expenses for a church member undergoing cancer treatments. Items for sale will include antique knives, housewares, clothing for both children and adults, toys, books, and freshly-made fruitcakes by Tom McCloud.

Vacation Bible School will be held July 15-18 at the Watauga Point United Methodist Church. Deacon candidates Richard Shambaugh and Thomas Spence, both of Elizabethton, will be officially certified and commissioned as Deacons in The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod on Sunday, July 15, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 234 W. F St., Elizabethton.
President Ken Lampe of the Mid-South District (Tennessee, Arkansas and parts of Kentucky and Virginia) will be present for this special occasion.
The Commissioning Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday. A reception will follow. This is the first time in the 75-year history of Redeemer Lutheran Church that any members of the congregation have been certified as Deacons in the LC-MS.
A youth rally will be held Saturday, July 14, at 6 p.m. at Blevins Chapel Baptist Church, Roan Mountain.

First United Methodist
The sermon “Overcoming Discouragement” will be featured at the morning worship service Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The scripture text is Matthew 11: 2-11.
A brief fellowship time will immediately follow the worship service after which Sunday School for all ages will begin at 11:20 am. The Men’s Prayer Group will meet on Sunday at 9 a.m. in Room in 108.
