9:45 am | September 28, 2012

Local residents needing to rid their homes of unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs can take them to a collection spot this weekend at the local Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Elizabethton Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Residents can bring their medications for disposal to the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce, located at 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway. The service is free and anonymous; no questions asked.
