The Carter County Humane Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Doe River Baptist Church.

Roan Mountain Lodge No. 566 F&AM will have an official visit from the Grand Lodge of the State of Tennessee representative body on. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. All members and visitors welcome.

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at the Southside School Building on Southside Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a business meeting to follow at 7 p.m. All members are requested to attend. New officers will be installed at this meeting. The chapter meets the second Thursday of each month.

An Alzheimer’s Association Support Group Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Wellington Place, 2003 Waters Edge Drive, Johnson City. The support group meets the second Thursday of each month. For more information, call 915-0110 or email

Friday-July 13

The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m. Music for the dance will be provided by the Rambling Rose Band. Those attending the event are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge.

Southern Countrymen Band will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Outdoorsman on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Admission is $5. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

The Johnson City Grand Squares — a square dance and round dance club — will hold the annual Watermelon Dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Johnson City Seniors Center, 607 Myrtle Ave. The dance will feature square rounds and lines. Saturday-July 14

Jerry Pierce & The Nightlife Band will perform at 5 p.m. during the Carter County Car Show at the Borla facility at the Okolona exit in Johnson City. The facility is located at 500 Borla Drive, formerly 3000 Bill Garland Road, Johnson City.

The fourth annual Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation Golf Tournament in memory of Peggy Merryman will be held at the Elizabethton Golf Course, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon with a shotgun start for play at 1 p.m. The tournament is open to two-person teams that can be comprised of men, women, mixed and seniors of all playing abilities. A family reunion for the descendants of Calvin T. and Diana Adelaide Greenwell Andrews will be held at Shelter No. 3 in the Roan Mountain State Park Campground. Distant Thunder will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.
