Haunted Half Marathon set Saturday in Kingsport

9:30 am | October 24, 2012

The streets of Kingsport will be haunted Saturday by runners in the Fourth Annual Haunted Half Marathon and Boo to Brew 4-Person Relay.

The race has grown into one of the most popular and unique races in the region, and the largest half marathon in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The 2011 race drew almost 1,000 spooky participants, many dressed in full Halloween costume.

The Haunted Half start and finish and all race activities will be held near the new Farmers Market. With its Halloween theme, flat double-loop course and post-race party atmosphere, the Haunted Half has become a favorite of both beginners and experienced half marathoners.

The Boo to Brew 4-Person Relay draws about 100 teams with four runners splitting up the 13.1 mile distance, with each team member handing off a wristband from one team member to the next.

The Haunted Half Marathon has partnered with Kingsport Urology Group to raise awareness for prostate cancer, and is professionally managed by We Run Events.

The marathon is sandwiched between the Food City’s kid’s costume contest earlier in the day and the Rockin’ The Hallows Festival in the evening for a full day of running, music, food and fun.

The Haunted Half Marathon will begin at 3 p.m.
