Leggett to speak at Milligan9:32 am | October 12, 2012
Former Milligan College President Marshall Leggett will speak at the college on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. The event is open to the public.
During the convocation service, Leggett will speak about Jesus’ parable of the talents from Matthew 25:14-30. In addition, Heritage, Milligan’s premier a cappella ensemble, will sing.
Leggett served as Milligan’s 13th president from 1982 to 1997, and left a lasting impact on the college. During his tenure, enrollment increased 31 percent and the college offered its first master’s degree, the Master of Education. The college underwent several building projects under Leggett’s leadership including construction of the McMahan Student Center in 1987, the renovation of the old student union building as Paxson Communications Center, renovation of the upper level of Hardin Hall to house the Arnold Nursing Science Center and the addition of three new residence halls.
Leggett and his wife, Jean, a 1953 Milligan alumna, now reside in Aledo, Texas.
