School board hears concerns about overcrowding9:34 am | September 21, 2012
Increased student enrollment in the Elizabethton City School System has resulted in a demand for additional classroom space at each of the three elementary schools.
Board member Connie Baker at Thursday’s meeting requested a discussion about the space constraints and what can be done to remedy the overcrowded schools.
Baker said she had talked with parents and grandparents of students at Harold McCormick Elementary who were concerned that their children did not have enough classroom space at the school. She said she was told the music, art and computer classes had been moved from rooms to carts and those teachers rotated to different classrooms for their lessons.
