Officials at Washington County’s animal shelter say two dogs stolen from the facility have been recovered and adopted.

Maisie, a Chihuahua mix, and Mabis, a Yorkie, were found Thursday by officials and both have been adopted.

Police said 54-year-old Cathy Poole admitted to taking the dogs “because she could not afford to pay the (adoption) fees.” She and her daughter, 24-year-old Sara Poole, both of Jonesborough, were each cited on one theft charge.
