Woman who was stopped by deputy in Beetle pleads guilty9:15 am | October 1, 2012
A 51-year-old Hampton woman who fled from a Volkswagen Beetle police cruiser earlier this year in downtown Elizabethton has pleaded guilty to charges.
Cynthia Ann Andes pleaded guilty Thursday in Carter County Criminal Court to seventh offense DUI and third offense driving on a revoked license. A felony evading arrest charge was dismissed by Judge Robert Cupp.
On Feb. 2, Deputy Shane Watson, who drives a rare Volkswagen Beetle police cruiser with a “12 1/2” car number decal, was at the Carter County Courthouse when a man approached him and pointed to a gray Dodge truck. The man said the truck was being driven all over the road and almost struck several vehicles.
